Hi, despite feeling a little guilty about the fantastic level of support I have already had from this fourm...

When using a Pi3 with IOPi plus in an embedded system, it there any reason not to use the +5V and 0V terminals on the IOPi to back-power the raspberry pi ? I realise the link will need to be made, but will the pi power up normally with 5V supplied through the bus pins or does it require power through the usb connector?

You can power the Raspberry Pi through the 5V and ground pins on the IO Pi Plus. The only thing you have to be careful of is powering the Raspberry Pi directly through the GPIO connector bypasses the fuse so if you accidentally short any of the GPIO pins to ground you could cause permanent damage to the Raspberry Pi.
