Suspension of Deliveries to the USA
We regret to announce that from Saturday, 23rd August 2025, AB Electronics UK will be suspending all deliveries to the United States.
This decision has not been taken lightly. For many years, parcels valued at under $800 USD could be sent from the UK to the USA without incurring any import tariffs. This threshold gave businesses like ours the ability to serve US customers cost-effectively and without unnecessary red tape.
However, the US government has recently announced changes to its import regulations which mean that this exemption will no longer apply. From the end of August, all parcels, regardless of their value, will be subject to new tariffs.
At present, neither UK businesses nor international carriers such as Royal Mail have been given clear guidance on what these tariffs will be or how they will be calculated. This uncertainty places small exporters like AB Electronics UK in an impossible position. If we were to continue sending parcels, our customers in the United States could face unexpected import charges and delivery delays entirely beyond our control.
The responsibility for this disruption lies with the changes to US trade policy, which have effectively removed a long-standing arrangement that benefitted individuals and small businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. While we understand the need for governments to regulate trade, the sudden nature of this shift, coupled with the lack of clarity on implementation, has left us with no viable option but to suspend shipments for the time being.
We know this decision will disappoint many of our American customers who rely on our products, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Please be assured that this is not a reflection of our commitment to serving you, but rather a necessary step to avoid additional costs being unfairly passed on to you.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as soon as more information becomes available. Our aim is to resume deliveries to the USA as quickly as possible once there is clarity on the tariffs and how they will be applied.
