In a previous post I ran across this
"The IO Pi Plus only uses the two I2C pins on the GPIO port while the Expander Pi uses the I2C and SPI pins. "
My question is, if I'm using a IO Pi Plus, why do I have to have SPI enabled to make it work with the Python Libraries, I can only get the blinking Led tutorial to work if I enable the SPI interface anlong with the i2c interface.

So the short of it is, I must have upgraded my pi incorrectly, after reinstalling a new image and doing the upgrades before installing anything else, then installing the packages needed for the IO Pi Plus, things are working just as expected. I think the libary I was calling was the IO Extender lib instead of the IOPi library
